It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I cannot believe Christmas is only two weeks away. I absolute love this holiday for so many reasons…festive lights, sweet treats, presents, beautiful decor, time spent with family and most of all the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ the King!

I actually put up most of my decorations the day after Thanksgiving, but my tree needed a bit of last minute touch ups before revealing on the blog. I didn’t mix things up much from last year’s theme since I’ve pretty much been dedicating all of my spare time to the wedding this year. Even though I didn’t make many changes, I’m still pretty much in love with the added warmth to the house.

The two smaller hurricane vases are from World Market, and the larger hurricane vase is from Target. I filled the bottom of each vase with fake snow from Target, and the larger vase is actually filled with pine cones first for volume then assorted ornaments from the Paul Michael Company. Everything else on the table is from the Paul Michael Company too. Can you tell I’m a little bit in love with Paul Michael’s?

Here we go again with my Paul Michael’s obsession since all of the ribbon on the tree is from the store as well. The white ornaments are from Hobby Lobby and the gold ones are from Target.

Funny story: Brett strings the lights every year for me. This year as I was finishing up a few touches to the tree, I went to trim a branch and when I cut down with the scissors I accidentally cut a wire. I felt so horrible since Brett had to end up taking out some of the lights to repair then restring once again. I ended up blowing a fuse, and he was surprised that I didn’t shock myself. Oops!

I bought the floral branches above from a local holiday market show, Tinsels and Treasures hosted by the Junior League of Lafayette two years ago.

And I also bought these branches the same year at Hobby Lobby.

Last year I purchased our stockings from Pottery Barn (which are still available), and  I also bought the majestic reindeer from the Paul Michael Company two years ago.

DSC04037Another reindeer resides on my sofa table along with a hurricane vase filled with Brett’s favorite miniature candy canes.

Parent’s Tree

My parents recently shared pictures with me of their Christmas tree this year, which is filled with ornaments my Mom has collected over the years.

It’s also filled with ornaments that both my brother and I made throughout our childhood.

This past weekend was filled with the beginning of my Christmas shopping. However my shopping trip was short lived since the Christmas shoppers were definitely out in full force. I’ve decided to do the rest of my shopping online.

I also spent Sunday morning making my Almond Pecan Junies for Brett and his co-workers since they had to work the weekend. Brett and I actually attended his Christmas party for work last Thursday, and one of his co-workers insisted that I make these cookies soon. I’m telling you guys, everyone seems to be addicted to these cookies. Definitely try making them, especially if you are trying to impress someone. Thanks again to my Aunt Karen for sharing her recipe with me.

I also spent some of Sunday working on a craft project that I plan to share on the blog real soon.

I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful time of the year, but as we spread merry and joy with one another please remember the true reason of the season.
