Wow, can you believe that we are already in August! The weather is surely heating up in Louisiana, but it definitely didn’t stop me from having another fantastic weekend.
When I returned home from work Friday afternoon, Brett and I headed over to River Ranch for dinner and cocktails. We dined at Romacelli and shared the Mediterranean hummus and a small pepperoni pizza. Afterwards we walked right down the street to Pour, which offers a self-serving wine bar. I really love the concept of Pour since you can choose to purchase either a taste, half-glass or full glass. I drank three different types of wine that night since I opted for half glasses, and I ended the night with a Moscow Mule. The Moscow Mule is similar to a Dark and Stormy; however, you substitute vodka instead of the spiced rum.
That night, Brett and I discussed honeymoon destinations, shared many giggles together and just simply enjoyed each others company. It was a perfect evening!
On Saturday morning, I headed to my hometown of Cut Off for my cousin, Johnathan’s wedding. I did really well with emotions throughout the entire ceremony until I saw the way my Aunt hugged her son as she received a rose from he and his new wife at the end of the mass. Their love for each other was present, and I could honestly see the happiness that overwhelmed both of them on this special day.
I enjoyed catching up with all of my relatives that day, but the best part of the reception was the dancing.
My Godchild Toby and I dancing, and my cousins Toby and Pete
doing the “cast net” dance with my Uncle Chad.
Mom and Dad keeping the love alive! Aren’t they precious?
Some of my favorite memories go as far back as when my Dad would prop me up on his hip in order to spin me around the dance floor during wedding receptions. I always loved this since he really made me feel like a princess. Not only did I enjoy dancing with my Dad that day, but I was also able to bust some moves with my cousins, aunts and uncles too!
My Mom with three of her four sisters. From left to right: My Nanny Kristie, Mom, Aunt Karen and the Mother of the Groom, Aunt Carol. We missed you Aunt Patricia!
A selfie I sent Brett since he was stuck at work during the festivities!
A big thank you to my Aunt Karen for taking me in for the night, and for providing some of the pictures seen on this blog post!
On Sunday, I attended mass with my parents, at lunch at my Paw Paw’s house, then made my way back to Lafayette. That afternoon was filled with ironing, grocery shopping and preparing myself for a busy week ahead at the office.
Hope you guys are having a great week! I’m hoping to pop in later this week to give you guys an update on a few changes/additions we’ve made to the house.
What is your favorite thing about a wedding?
Mine is most definitely socializing with everyone present. Next, would definitely be the dancing!
